Do not open, do not heat, observe disposal regulations!
Installation position
Gas springs should preferably be installed with the piston rod pointing downwards at rest, unless they are designed for installation in any position. This ensures that the guide and sealing system is always optimally lubricated.
Non-tilting
To avoid reducing the service life, gas springs must not be subjected to tilting, bending or lateral forces. We offer suitable end fittings such as angle joints. This is how you ensure tilt-free operation.
Functional safety
The functional reliability of the gas spring is largely due to the smooth piston rod surface and the seals that keep the gas pressure inside. Do not expose gas springs to bending loads. Do not install Stabilus gas springs if they have been damaged by subsequent mechanical processing. Welding on the gas spring as well as contamination or paint on the piston rod can cause the device to fail. Avoid changes and manipulations, impact, tensile loads, heating, overpainting or removing the label. Be on the safe side: Do not install defective or improperly processed products.
Temperature range
The standard temperature range for which Stabilus gas springs are designed is between -30 °C and +80 °C. Of course, gas springs for extreme loads are also available.
Lifespan and maintenance
Gas springs are maintenance-free! They do not require any maintenance such as oiling or greasing. They are always designed for the respective requirements and work for many years without failure.
Transport and storage
When you store gas springs, the piston rod should point downwards. Activate the gas springs after no more than 6 months of storage. Avoid damage: Do not transport gas springs as bulk cargo. Also make sure that gas springs are not contaminated by thin packaging film or adhesive tape.
Application
Gas springs must be technically designed for the specific application – based on specifications and drawings. Please discuss the application and requirements with us. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail and we will be happy to forward them to the manufacturer.
Disposal
When gas springs are no longer needed, they should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. To do this, they are drilled in a suitable manner to release the compressed nitrogen gas and the oil they contain. More detailed information can be found in STAB-Spec. 1000 9375.
